Finland in December
Not sure if anyone still reads this, especially anyone in Finland. But, we’ll be in Finland from Dec 6 - 28 if anyone is around. Well, Heidi and Aidan will be there for that long. Justin will be returning on Dec 12th.
We hope to see some of you there!

Comments removed
I’ve removed the option to add comments as the amounts of spam were just intolerable. But, as we change this blog so frequently, we’ll probably change it again soon to allow comments again.

Dubai Cares
There has been a fund-raising campaign going on here for the past couple of months (seems like years) called Dubai Cares. Every time you turn on the TV, Dubai Cares. Even the news became an advert for it, but that’s another story. Most of the fund-raising was performed by corporate companies, probably with some pressure from above. It also helped that one of the five pillars of Islam is to...
Traffic Engineers Wanted
Because the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) of Dubai obviously doesn’t have any! We have been quite lucky living on the outskirts of Dubai as we manage to avoid most of the traffic jams that occur on a regular basis here. That is, until now. I think I’ve mentioned this previously, but near our home is a very large roundabout (about 1km diameter). During rush-hour it can get pretty...

Six Months
We’ve been here in the UAE for just over 6 months now. That means that I’ve also just spent more time at this new job than with the previous employer, and I have to say, that time has flown by with the current one. It has probably helped that the family has been here the whole time since I changed jobs too.
Driving in Thick Fog
Driving to the Western Region today was mostly in thick fog from Abu Dhabi all the way to Madinat Zayed (about 150km). The locals generally do not know how to drive in fog, so they’re all driving along with their hazard lights on. Only about 50% of the traffic had their normal lights on! It makes for some interesting passing maneuvers when you have no idea which way people are going to...

Lucy in the sky with diamonds...
No, I’m not continuing a musical theme here. This one is about drugs. So, the other night I start to get a headache, my muscles get sore, the whole body starts to ache and my stomach feels a bit poorly. Bugger. Virus got me. The following day I was still feeling a bit shite so I went and visited our local doctor. Here is the shortened version of my consultation: Doc: Hi, how are you? Me:...

Well, that didn't work
So much for domain forwarding working from my web hosting provider. I guess that they ignore that request if I’m paying for hosting from them. So, mid-term solution is to add my own re-direct instead. Welcome.

Welcome
Welcome to our new tumblr blog. We figured that we were getting pretty lazy with adding large articles about our goings-on, so we’ve switched to this new lazy blog. I hope you enjoy it. You can even view it on your iPhone, if you had one. How useful. You can always subscribe to the RSS feeds if you don’t like the look of it…
