Dubai Cares
There has been a fund-raising campaign going on here for the past couple of months (seems like years) called Dubai Cares. Every time you turn on the TV, Dubai Cares. Even the news became an advert for it, but that’s another story.
Most of the fund-raising was performed by corporate companies, probably with some pressure from above. It also helped that one of the five pillars of Islam is to donate to charity, and this program was kicked off during Ramadan. But, either way you look at it, telethon in New Zealand never ever dreamed of raising US$480million!!
That is a staggering amount of money raised purely by donation, whether people were pressured into it or not.
Now, the funds will be distributed to various countries to support education facilities for children.
